​Prior to moving to the South Carolina area, Dr. Currence was an in-demand horn player and teacher in Memphis, Tennessee, holding degrees from the University of Memphis, Lynn Conservatory and Shenandoah Conservatory. While serving as the 4th horn of the Jackson Symphony (Tennessee) and frequent substitute horn of the Memphis Symphony, he taught as a professor at Rhodes College in Memphis and Union University in Jackson. During that time, he also served as the horn teacher for the Hernando School District of Hernando, Mississippi. Dr. Currence has performed with many world-class talents, including Il Volo and Celtic Women. Currently, he is a freelance brass lessons teacher and clinician for the Fort Mill School District.

 

Dr. Currence is known online as “ElectricHornGuy”, plugging his French horn into a guitar pedal board and performing riffs from popular metal and rock songs. In his off-time, Dr. Currence enjoys resting at home with his fiancée Maggie.
